Strumming Patterns

The strum patterns are displayed as two measures. In some cases (Bo Diddley Strum and Brazillian Strum) it takes a full two measures to play the complete strum pattern.

Notation:

  • D - Down strum
  • U - Up Strum
  • d - Down Strum - Less Emphasis
  • u - Up Strum - Less Emphasis
  • T - Thumb Strum - Either strum all of the strings with the thumb, or just the top string (usually the lowest tone, except with re-entrant tuned instruments.)
